HPRshredder 2026-08-17 In the Wake of Doshin the Giant Today is the first of fourteen days in a row I will not be featured on Waiting For Nintendo. I decided a few weeks back that it was time. That I really needed a break. While Waiting For Nintendo is an admittedly low-effort production, it still takes a considerable amount of time to set up, record, title, thumbnail, schedule, and interact with. My time lately has been really limited. At least, the time I can spend in a day pursuing some creative goal. I needed this break. So far, I've been able to make a lot more progress on Mach Rider. I've been experimenting with more titles on my Wii including the GameCube rendition of Twilight Princess. I've made considerable progress again in Link's Awakening on my modded GBC. Most importantly, however, I have finally been able to sink my teeth into the Nintendo 64DD version of Doshin the Giant. The original. I have been utterly obsessed with this game. Reading about it. Watching what little content does exist about the game. Tracking down scans of the original guidebook and art book. Interviews. You name it. And I also managed to beat the game. I did it live, actually. I've been streaming more on Twitch. Here are the vods, actually: Part1, Part2, Part3, Part4, Part5 (Final) The experience of the game has been a delight and a process. I beat the GameCube version on my 36" CRT just a few weeks ago, and to my surprise despite what is often said about these games, the 64DD game is completely different. The GameCube "port" is more of a complete reinterpretation. It's not just a prettier version. Mechanically they differ greatly. Anyway, I'm very excited for an eventual video on these games. I have so many thoughts. I'm hesitant to spoil too much here. But wow. What a game. I, myself, am in the wake of Doshin the Giant. And I also feel I've sighted land. I've felt a bit lost at sea lately. I talked a bit about it in my last post. Tossed back and forth between responsibilities and unable to focus. I've been struggling with Mach Rider. I've also taken on a long-term video project that I'm working on in the background. There's still that Zelda video with the script mostly done. There's the prospect of this new Doshin video that's evolving in my head. There's the Gradius video as the prequel to the Salamander video. There's my game I'm trying to develop. Then there's my burnt-out mind and body. Sleep deprived. Craving rest. Sometimes you have to wait the storm out when you're feeling like that. Sometimes the little tricks and techniques you develop over time to snap you out of it and return to a state of productivity just stop working for a while. Not even because you're currently doing anything that crazy, but because you never fully recovered from the last few projects, and you've been putting off some inevitable crash. Well, I'm finally starting to gain a little clarity. And that's good news. It has been really nice having a bit more time lately to work on my stuff and just play some games. I'm working on the Mach Rider video and script alongside the Doshin script now. I've got some footage recorded for both. Gameplay and stuff I've shot with my camera. I'm going to work on the Zelda BotW script as well. And my plan is to film all three videos, the parts with me in them physically, back-to-back to back. This will allow me to always have something I can be editing while I have down time at work. It should simplify the plans for other videos moving forward. I'm not actually sure which one will go live first, and I kind of like that. Go Back Share (Copy Link)
